30 PM Central JOB SUMMARY Under the direction of the Workforce Services Supervisor, the Employment Counselor provides clients with an array of employment, training, and case management services to assist them in preparing for, securing and retaining suitable employment.
The Employment Counselor works with the unemployed or underemployed in assessing attitudes, interests and work skills; determining program eligibility; develops employment plans for clients; conducts employment skills development workshops; and provides career guidance and counseling to program participants.
This position will manage a caseload of participants in various employment and training programs, and a significant portion of time spent will be working with youth in WIOA (workforce innovation and opportunity act) and state (Minnesota) youth employment programs.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES oAssesses, evaluates and develops employment plans for clients to assist the unemployed or underemployed eligible client in preparing for, searching and retaining suitable employment.
oPerforms various employment, training, and vocational counseling case management responsibilities for program participants.
oProvides various job training functions and responsibilities; conducts public relation activities, or assists with special projects, as required.
oPerforms other comparable duties of a like or similar nature as assigned.
Position will have a hybrid option after successful completion of 6 month probationary period.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS oBA or BS in Human Services, Education, Social Work, Psychology, Personnel, Vocational Counseling or related area.
oMinimum of 2 years previous experience working in human services, education, personnel or related area.
oValid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility.
