Being a partner to the R&D; teams in Chaska and Bloomington, Minnesota as well as Colorado Springs, Colorado and monitoring R&D; activities to cull out innovations
Assist inventors as necessary in memorializing idea disclosures in Ipendo workflow system
Attend R&D; meetings
Serve as focal point for non-disclosure requests company-wide and act as initial review and negotiator
Train personnel in Chaska/Bloomington and COS on intellectual property issues
Act as the legal gateway for new product introduction to market activities, including landscape, freedom-to-operate, invalidity and novelty searching activities
Conduct periodic meetings with Chaska/Bloomington/COS-centric business units to discuss intellectual property issues:
One meeting per year to be a strategy session to ensure the IP strategy is aligned with the BU product strategy (appropriate personnel to be invited)
One or two meetings per year to be tactical sessions to discuss annuities/maintenance fees, national phase filing decisions, patent prosecution issues, IP budget, etc. (appropriate personnel to be invited)
One or two meetings per year to be directed to interesting intellectual property issues - e.g., (1) competitor has new patent on a competing product and meeting to devise design-around possibilities, (2) brain-storming session to help cultivate innovation (appropriate personnel to be invited)
Work with outside counsel and inventors to crystallize inventions and ensure claiming strategy follows business strategy
Support trade secrets throughout company with training and counseling personnel on appropriate safeguards
Process inventor remuneration for trade secrets and patents
Travel as necessary to perform tasks
Educational Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor in Science in Mechanical Engineering or comparable discipline; Masters or PhD preferred
Licensed to practice before the US Patent and Trademark Office; minimum of 5 years experience before the USPTO
Experiential Minimum Requirements:
At least five years working within a corporate IP team
Demonstrable understanding of intellectual property protection mechanisms, including patents; trade secrets and confidential information; trademarks and service marks; and, copyrights (will require writing samples of patents prosecuted)
Demonstrable understanding of patent protection issues, including enablement; novelty; non-obviousness; patentability; the new requirements under the America Invents Act; first to file issues; public use prior to filing; experimental versus commercial purpose; best mode; and, the various sections of a patent
Demonstrable understanding of patent infringement issues including what constitutes infringement and freedom-to-operate searching and analysis

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
