Summary:
Perform duties as assigned to complete product as specified by the IP drawing, blueprint or work order.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
Employees are expected to support the quality concepts inherent in the business philosophies of Lake Region Medical, including a variety of job related tasks which may not be specific to this position profile.
Accountabilities Include:
Receive instructions from department supervisor or technician.
Perform assigned duties per documented procedures, i.e. routers, basic prints, SOP s and IP packet.
Record required information on manufacturing documentation accurately and neatly.
Perform daily preventative maintenance on machines. Assure that the work area and aisles around the machines are kept clean and free of debris.
Perform simple set-ups with assistance, and run production on products that have a proven program and process. Meet or exceed the production rates and notify supervisor or technician if rates cannot be met.
Monitor machine for tool wear or breakage, change tooling, and make machine adjustments as necessary to produce a quality part.
Perform daily 5 S review of work area according to the Department 5 S Audit sheet.
Ability to use problem-solving techniques to resolve simple machine problems with assistance from supervisor or technician.
Perform visual and mechanical inspections on line as required by router or set up to verify parts meet specifications.
Perform additional operations such as deburring, cleaning and packaging to satisfy production, quality, and general business requirements.
Assist in training other operators when required.
Employees are required to supply their own equipment to perform their daily duties such as micrometer, blade mic, 6-inch caliper, allen wrenches, etc.
Apply and use continuous improvement/lean concepts and practices, such as Rapid A3 problem solving, Hour by Hour boards and 5s methodologies.
Timely and regular attendance.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or technician.
Required Skills
High School degree or equivalent.
Completed 1-year machinist training course or 3 years machine shop experience.
Knowledge and skill to operate lathes, mills, drill press, and other related equipment.
Knowledge and skill of various inspection equipment used in machine shop to verify product meets customer specifications such as micrometer, calipers, optical measuring equipment and toolmakers scope.
Ability to use microscope for visual inspection for burrs and defects to ensure that the product meets specifications.
Ability to learn equipment, methods, and the desire to advance in knowledge, skills and abilities
